My Recount

Kelly Tarltons
It was a dark at the entrance, there was a long stairway. As I kept walking there was more and more ice and then we reached the counter. As we walked in there was a machine that look like a snow tractor but I didn't know what it was. First we got to the penguin area there was lots of penguins inside the tank. A man was wearing a diving suit and swimming around inside the tank taking pictures of the penguins with another person. A woman was dropping fish into the tank for the penguins to eat. It was like the penguins were having a huge shared lunch. There was a screen that had it had facts about penguins I learnt that there are seventeen different types of penguins. Along the way I saw a big container of water. The water that was inside the container was cold because it showed us how cold water was that the penguins swim in and the challenge was that you had to put your hand inside the container and try leave it there for thirty seconds. My uncle tried it and beat the time.

After that we carried on walking and got to the fish tunnel. The fish tunnel was very long but small because there was lots of people and we were all starting to get squashed. It was fun so me and my uncle went around twice but there was mostly sharks swimming around in the tank. I think it would be better if they would put more different types of fish. There was a paper on the wall that said “can you find the Wobbegong fish”. A Wobbegong fish is a fish that can blend into all kinds of thing but when I found it, it was blending into the rocks.

Then we got to Scotts hut. Scotts hut is a place that shows us what it look like inside Scotts hut. Scott is a famous person who travelled all around and also travelled to Antarctica. The hut that Scott lived in was very cold so it was difficult to sleep at night and Scott lived with some other men and it was difficult for them to sleep because there weren't much cloth for all of them so they had to take turns with the cloth each night. In Scotts hut the cups and bowls they used were rusty and dirty because they had no water to wash any dishes they only had water to drink. In Scotts hut it was 16 degrees celsius and that is cold.

Finally we got to the last activity, it was a quiz about fish. When the man said a lot of questions they were very hard so he gave us time to think. I got some questions right but if we answered the last question we win a secret prize. I was unlucky and did not get the question right but another boy won the secret prize but I did not see prize because I had to go home. It was fun at Kelly Tarltons. When I got home I had delicious dinner with my whole family.
