Run, Jump, Throw

Today at run jump throw with Andy, we learnt new skills in shot put and discus. In shot put we learnt the stance, where to put the shot put and how to throw it. One of the phrases we used was, dirty fingers, dirty neck and clean palms. This means we have to keep the shot put in our fingers, not the palm, keep it on our neck just under the ear. Another one was for our standing position. Chin, knee, toe in a row. With this one we had to turn our body's facing backwards, lifting our front foot heel our leaving our toes still on the ground. When we are facing backwards, our chin should be in line with our knee and toe. The last phrase or method was low to high watch it fly. So when we are facing backwards with the shot put still in our fingers touching our neck, then we bend even lower and as you turn to fact the front we are rising our body's so that when we push off it puts even more power into the throw. Also in discus, we learnt the gripping of the disc, how we release the disc and how to throw it. The first step is to grip the disc. You use your third knuckle to hold it so that it's in a shelf formation so when you face it upside down it will fall out. The standing position is sort of the same as the shot put stance, chin knee toe in a row but the twist is that before we do this we swing our arms front so that it is in the middle of our two hands then turn back and as we come to swing it out we flick it in a fast motion which gives more power to the throw. If was fun learning these new techniques with Andy the instructor. Maybe some thing I could work on in shot put is remembering to keep the shot put to my shoulder and keeping my elbow high.

Speech - Bikes, Scooters and Skateboards should be allowed at school

Greetings everyone.
Bikes, scooters and skateboards is what I’m here to talk to you about and why they should be allowed at all schools. How would you feel if you could not bring your bike or scooter to school because it wasn’t allowed at school. I believe that children should have the right to come to school on their bike, scooter or skateboard

Kids should be allowed to enjoy their childhood. Think, who would sit in a car and just wait, when you can just have fun instead. Plus going on a bike saves a lot more money than spending it on petrol for your car. The money that you spend to pay for gas could go to buying food or doing something good to help the community.

Did you know that if you rode a bike instead of using your car you could be saving more than a thousand dollars in a year!Riding a bike can give you a lot of exercise. This is another reason for you to ride your bike to school. More kids are sitting in front of a screen instead of getting outside and getting active.

A solution to this problem is for schools to make bike racks so that kids can come to school on their bike, scooter or skateboard and lock it to the rack ready for home time. Also there could be a program that will teach those who don’t know how to ride a bike so that every student can be coming to school on a bike, scooter or skateboard.

I think that kids should be allowed to bring their bike, scooter or skateboard to school. Remember it saves money, keeps the world healthy and gives you more exercise.
