Day 6 - Activity 1

Today I have carried on with my daily holiday challenge and have gotten up to day 6. I have now had my first night in Chile and have walked out of the hotel to go to a restaurant for breakfast. In Chile, their commonly eaten breakfast meals are, baked avocados, eggs and sausages and rauman. These types of foods are very different to what we have in New Zealand. In New Zealand, our typical normal foods are porridge, Milo and toast, and baked beans and toast. They are actually similar with  what we eat in New Zealand, for instance, we also eat eggs and sausages and avocados. I wouldn't regularly eat these foods for my breakfast every but would on some days.

Hi Sebastian,

I, too, might eat traditional Chilean foods for breakfast the odd time but would be unlikely to eat baked avocados or rauman on a regular basis. My current 'go to' breakfast food is Cranberry muesli. It's delicious!

What is the strangest thing that you have ever eaten for breakfast?

I'm really looking forward to reading your upcoming posts. You are doing a wonderful job of engaging on this learning journey. Keep up the great work!

Cheers, Rachel

Dear Sebastian,

that sounds like a fanastic way to start your first day in Chile.
What is rauman? I think I have never heard of it.

I have to say that I really miss New Zealand cooked breakfast. I lived in Auckland for over 3 1/2 years and am back in Germany for almost a year now. I really loved going out for breakfast on the weekends (or eating baked beans, eggs and toast any other time of the day, especially for an easy dinner...).
One of the really weird things being back in Germany is that cafes usually do not open before 9 or 10 am. So actually going out for breakfast is not an option, if you have to get to work...

Enjoy your trip to Chile, I am looking forwards to reading more about your adventures,
cheers, Katharina

Hi Sebastian,

I hope that you are having a really good week and enjoying your kiwi breakfasts!

I wanted to take this opportunity to let you know that your fabulous blogging before Christmas has landed you in first place amongst all of the Panmure Bridge School students for the Summer Learning Journey. If you would like to retain your place, it will be really important for you to keep on blogging!

We'd love to see what happens next as you travel more through Chile and learn about the culture, holidays, customs, political system and entertainers in the country. Please consider blogging with us over the next two weeks. The Summer Learning Journey will run until 26 January 2016!

Hope to see you back online soon :)

Cheers,
Rachel

Hi Sebastian!

It's Rachel and I am posting a very special comment to your blog site. I have now tallied up all of the points for the second week of the Summer Learning Journey programme and you are currently in second place. Congratulations!

If you are keen to reclaim your first place title, please log on and re-join our summer blogging programme. We'd love to have you back!

In the meantime, I will continue to check your blogsite each day. The blogging programme has proven to be quite fun and it is a great way to practice your reading and writing before school starts again in a few weeks!

Hi Sebastian,

Really interesting to read about Chilean food! I have one question though... can you please tell me what rauman is? :)

Cheers,

Kia ora Sebastian ☺

The Summer Learning Journey programme has now come to an end. Thank you so much for being involved this summer!

Over the next few months I plan to review the programme. As part of the review process I am hoping to gather feedback from participants, just like you! To tell me what you think please log onto the Summer Learning Journey website and click on the ‘Feedback’ tab. It will take you to a short online form. Can you please fill it out? It should only take about 5 minutes. I’d love to hear what you think!

I will also be coming into your school in a few weeks to hand out participation certificates. I am really looking forward to seeing you then!

Thanks again for joining our Summer Learning Journey this year. I really hope that you join our holiday blogging programme again next summer.

Cheers!

Rachel
