Year 7 Technology - Woodwork

At Tech we continued on with our wood designs. There were many people making different things. I was making a jeep, it had to have a window in the front, front hood, seats and spare tire on the back of the vehicle. It takes a very little mistake to ruin the whole thing but in some way it could be fixed. So we had to be careful when doing measurements. It was fun going to woodwork and look forward to going back next week.

Homework - The Five W's

This week our homework was about the five W's and how we can look for these in questions and think of what it is asking us to do.

Basketball

Today we had basketball with Coach Mark and Millie. We started off with some warm ups. We did sprinting drills and exercises. One of the exercises was through the legs. We doing this we have to cup the ball in our hands so that we have more grip.We learnt how to dribble without looking at the ball with our heads up looking where we are going. Then we did relays, we had to dribble the ball with both hands which is called a crossover. It was fun at basket ball and everybody participated.

Buddy Story Swap

It all started yesterday when the kids from school were talking about the abandoned house on the hill and how it's haunted. I didn't know weather to believe them or not, so I went to see for myself. I decided to have a look inside. I slowly crept through the front door. I had feeling something was behind me so I turned around. The door came swing shut just missing my face. Dust flew everywhere which ended me up coughing in disgust. I was really scared of what could happen next, so I tried to look for light or a switch but there was no power. It got colder as took each step. Finding an exit wasn’t as easy as I thought because of all the darkness. I tried to find a way to the the exit but then I saw two red dots staring at me, I went to see what is was. As I got closer, it seemed to get bigger. The hairs on my arms and neck stood up...All of a sudden the red dots went away and the door opened. I ran out thinking of never going back.

Today we learnt a new task that helps us to write good recounts. The task was that each person in the pair take turns writing something that is continuing that last person sentence. We were given a picture that we had to write a recount about in 15 minutes.

Times Table Grid Challenge

Today for maths we played a new game that involved using our times table and measurements. To play the game, we had two dice that we each had to roll. the two number that come up, we then have to put them into a box the same size as the two numbers. For example, if I rolled a 2 and a 3 then I'd have to make a box that is 2 by length and 3 by width, or it could be the other way around. This game was very challenge though we had to fill our whole side to then win the game. It is good with practicing times tables and you could also skip count in the box to check if the box is the right size.
