Netbook Reflection 2013

This year having a netbook is great because I can learn things like how to do a blog post and how to search for things I didn't know. A netbook is great for people that are slow at writing. My friends always help me out and they teach me things that I didn't know. From my friends I have learnt hot to use google drive, how to take a screenshot and how to save an image. When I take my netbook home my family sometimes help me with my homework. My uncle taught me how to make a google drawing. I have helped other people like I held Riley blog his writing. My teacher has taught me a lot of things. She showed me how to write a news report and she showed me a website that has current events. My netbook has helped me learn a lot.

My Three Comments

                                          These are my three comments

WaterCare Experimenting with Sally

On Monday Sally from WaterCare came to teach us what WaterCare is about. Sally told us how our water gets to out houses and where it goes when the water has been used. The clean water goes through a blue pipe and the used water goes through a brown pipe. The water is now then taken to the WaterCare factory the dirty water gets put in a circle machine and the water gets clean. They clean the water by using a germ but the germ is a clean one. It is given a mane, Superbug because the Superbug eats all of the other dirty germs. Then Sally showed us an experiment then after she did it we had to do it. First we had to fill up three cups. After that we had to put two tablespoons of salt in the first cup then in the next cup we had to put one tablespoon of salt and none in the last cup. Net we had three food colours. They were blue, red and yellow. Meanwhile we tip them into each cup then use a tube to suck up the colours and try make a rainbow. Out next job was to try and mix the three colours and make other colours. I learnt how water is cleaned at the WaterCare factory and that salt water is heavier than fresh water.

Manaiakalani Film Festival Reflection

Manaiakalani Film Festival Reflection

On Wednesday 13 November the whole school were excited to go to the 2013 Manaiakalani Film Festival. It was a Hoyts Cinema at Sylvia Park. I think that St Pius X School was my favourite movie because so you know how to become successful in life.

On the day I think that my room 7 was the best behaved because they walked in a straight line when the movies were playing they didn't boo any of the schools movies and they clapped after each movie. Something interesting I saw was the wolf on the movie from Glen brae School because it looked scary.

On room 1’s movie, I want to know how did the movie slow down. I would like to try next year a Horror movie. I think that it is good to have a Manaiakalani Film Festival because it is about schools around Auckland make a movie about their learning and share it with other schools in Auckland.

Panmure Bridge School Party

There has been a C3 Church school party at Panmure Bridge School on Saturday 9 November 2013. There were lots of families from Panmure Bridge at the party to have fun with your family and friends. A Cook Island band performed with an amazing Cook Island dance. Food and drinks were free for everyone there were also a great performance from the Ukulele and Choir. The Kapahaka group had a strong, loud and clear performance as well. Then the boys and girls were trying to push in to get to the stage as the wrestles from Impact Pro Wrestling were doing their dangerous wrestling moves. Kids were waiting in a long queue to ride a horse or pony. There was also many more things like face painting in the hall and gladiator for rough boys. A huge line at the Mr Whippy truck and that was free to everybody. Kids and parents were happy and the kids were allowed to go on the stage and play but they were not allowed to fight. I think that there should've been more prizes to win.

Two men wrestling to win the match.

How I Learn My Basic Facts

I learn my basic facts by using playing cards and flipping them over and adding the two numbers. I also learn my basic facts on XtraMaths at school. Sometimes I play games on Sumdog because it has questions about basic facts as well. I am proud because I am doing subtraction on XtraMath and I am nearly moving to multiplication level.

My Narrive

Late night
It was a late night, it was pouring down hard with rain. I was addicted to my video game called, “Call of Duty Black Ops”. The rule is to kill zombies as they pop up from the ground and stay alive for a lot of rounds. The higher the round gets, the more zombies. The Zombies look as if they have been torn apart by a great white shark. All I was looking at was the screen thinking my eyes will get sore but they didn't. Then I started to get tired but I tried not to fall asleep because I just reached round 25. Slowly my eyes started to close smaller and smaller because I was getting more tired so I just closed my eyes for a second but then I died. It was a waste of time so I lay on my bed thinking how to get back to round 25 .I had fallen asleep with the video game still on. All of a sudden I woke up at school.

It was weird waking up at school because I remember falling asleep at home but the weirdest thing was that huge dark clouds swallowed the earth. Another thing was that there zombies everywhere! I started to panic and scream for help but then I knew it was just useless. I quickly looked around for a place to hide so I went in to the office and locked all the doors. The first weapon I could find was a baseball bat with 5 inch nails jammed into the baseball bat coming out the other side. I sat there for hours crying that I will never find another human on earth. Then I had an idea, my friends Halatoa and Joshua said to me if there was a zombie apocalypse they would hide in pak n save because they said that they would never want to starve to death. So I started my walk to the nearest pak n save. which is in Glen Innes. It was very hard for me to get past a lot of zombies but I made it.

As I got there I could see that there weren't that much zombies around pak n save. I thought in my head that they got to be there so I broke down the wood of the doors then I heard a voice HEY! What are you doing I just nailed that door. I was shocked I just heard someone's voice, I ran to all the isles and found standing right there Halatoa and joshua. I was glad I have seen an human. They told me they have been there for about 5 hours just eating food and playing games. Somehow I started to get hungry so I ate some food. I told them that we can't stay here forever because more zombies are starting to get closer and if we don't do anything about it we will living like this and its not good like this.

So we all set off on some bikes we found out the back the back door. we decided to go to the city because we thought that it would be safer there than here. The trip was long it took a hour to get there, suddenly a huge explosion went off we heard zombies screaming but luckily it was on the other side. On our way there we find a Holden ute and look for something that can help us but when instead we find loads of guns and grenades. Halatoa, Joshua and I were happy that we found something to help us but at the same time we were scared because we might get shot if we use the gun incorrectly so we tried them by shooting an animal. I think we can get use to this. Then we put guns that we could carry into into three bags for each of us to carry.

We carried on riding our bikes when we heard a BOOM! Halatoa fell on the ground and saw a guy starting to run away then i knew that Halatoa had been shot. Joshua and I carried Halatoa to the nearest hospital. we found a big bandage and put it on Halatoa. He said that it was stinging him but it was helping him. After that he said he was all right. As I looked around I saw a man hiding behind the desk. I asked him if he was the man that shot Halatoa but he said he didn't and he said that he would  never shoot anyone because he is a scientist and I believed him. He also said that he had a cure bomb to cure the zombies but he said I had to plant it at the top of the Sky Tower but it was a time bomb and we had one hour. I said I would do it so we all went to the Sky Tower but there were too much zombies when we killed some of them they kept coming Halatoa, Joshua and I ran up the steps and there were zombies jumping around the stairs. They were hard to shoot with them jumping around we finally reached the top but there was zombies climbing the Sky Tower and breaking it down I jumped as the time just ran out and the bomb landed on the top. We did it, slowing all the zombies started to turn back to human when everything started to turn all white then I woke up at home and it was morning, ‘get ready for school’ said my mum. Then I thought about it and it was all just a dream.

This is my narrative about Zombies. I think I have used good adjectives in my story.

The Tamaki Area

The Tamaki area goes from Point England to Mount Wellington down to Panmure and along the Tamaki River. I live in Otahuhu and the Tamaki River goes along it. Portage Road is use to be important i the past because if people wanted to get to the other coast they would go through the Tamaki River and drag their boats through Portage Road to the other side and sail the rest of the way

Voice Thread

This is my voice thread about facts about the Tamaki River. Miss Paton made it for room 7. she went on a site called voicthread.com then every one had to say a fact about the Tamaki River from the past and present. Please listen to my comment about how portage road was used in the past.

Evening Performance Reflection Night: 1

Evening Performance Reflection Night: 1
I am really happy about our first night performance because I put all my effort into the production.

I am also pleased with the classes performance because they looked like they put all their energy into their performances and their performances were funny.

I think we can make our class performance better if we smile at the audience and put more energy into our actions.

My mum thought that my class performance was cool and funny but she said that I had to smile at the audience because she said that I looked sad.

I think my behavior was good because after our performance I didn't scream when classes went on stage to do their performance.

Bruce Potter at Panmure Bridge School

On Wednesday a special person came to Panmure Bridge School. His name is Bruce Potter and he is an illustrator. He has illustrated The Wonky Donkey, Kaha the Kea and other many books. When Bruce was an illustrator he wanted to write and sing songs so he tried singing some songs to schools. They liked it so he kept on writing and singing songs. When he came to Panmure Bridge he sang some songs and the school joined in. He showed us his new book he is working on and it is going to be about a doodle bug that jumps into a doodle. Then he drew a picture and we got to pick what he drew. Bruce drew a skeleton in a tank shooting a bear on a motorbike. I had a great time.

Google Drawing: The Water Cycle

This is my Google drawing about water cycle. I learnt that the suns energy heats up the water in the oceans and seas and turn into steam or vapor and is called evaporation. Then when the steam or vapor is in the air the air cannot hold it anymore so it turns into rain or hail.

My Recount

Kelly Tarltons
It was a dark at the entrance, there was a long stairway. As I kept walking there was more and more ice and then we reached the counter. As we walked in there was a machine that look like a snow tractor but I didn't know what it was. First we got to the penguin area there was lots of penguins inside the tank. A man was wearing a diving suit and swimming around inside the tank taking pictures of the penguins with another person. A woman was dropping fish into the tank for the penguins to eat. It was like the penguins were having a huge shared lunch. There was a screen that had it had facts about penguins I learnt that there are seventeen different types of penguins. Along the way I saw a big container of water. The water that was inside the container was cold because it showed us how cold water was that the penguins swim in and the challenge was that you had to put your hand inside the container and try leave it there for thirty seconds. My uncle tried it and beat the time.

After that we carried on walking and got to the fish tunnel. The fish tunnel was very long but small because there was lots of people and we were all starting to get squashed. It was fun so me and my uncle went around twice but there was mostly sharks swimming around in the tank. I think it would be better if they would put more different types of fish. There was a paper on the wall that said “can you find the Wobbegong fish”. A Wobbegong fish is a fish that can blend into all kinds of thing but when I found it, it was blending into the rocks.

Then we got to Scotts hut. Scotts hut is a place that shows us what it look like inside Scotts hut. Scott is a famous person who travelled all around and also travelled to Antarctica. The hut that Scott lived in was very cold so it was difficult to sleep at night and Scott lived with some other men and it was difficult for them to sleep because there weren't much cloth for all of them so they had to take turns with the cloth each night. In Scotts hut the cups and bowls they used were rusty and dirty because they had no water to wash any dishes they only had water to drink. In Scotts hut it was 16 degrees celsius and that is cold.

Finally we got to the last activity, it was a quiz about fish. When the man said a lot of questions they were very hard so he gave us time to think. I got some questions right but if we answered the last question we win a secret prize. I was unlucky and did not get the question right but another boy won the secret prize but I did not see prize because I had to go home. It was fun at Kelly Tarltons. When I got home I had delicious dinner with my whole family.
